Do you think my new boy friend may have abusive tendancies?

At the end of the night on our first date he bit my lip and drew blood and I grabbed my mouth and didnt say anything but he said whats wrong and I told him calmly "you bit my lip and it's bleeding" he said oh sorry I love to bite. The second date this didnt happen but we were kissing and he seemed to be overpowering me in a way that made me think for a second "am I safe" I felt a fear but I think it was just me and not him. I can't be sure. He did mention the word submissive, and I wasnt sure in what context because I blew it off and thought about it later after I went home. I want to have a 3rd date and he is so charming, sweet and attentive, he even went outside with me to smoke at the restaurant and he doesnt smoke... Any advice or am I just being to cautious?
