Why is belief in God not enough for some? Why are others compelled to believe in the Bible as God's word?

because we can not understand what the bible is meaning untill we are born again of the spirit now we can understand what the bible is meaning and God spirit is leading us into all truth through God word (Bible) daily, this is how we grow in our knowledge of God the father God the son and God the holy spirit. natural man cannot understand the bible it sounds foolish to him. because it is a spiritual book because God is spirit and we must worship God in spirit and in truth.
