I don't want to seem like a nag towards...?

If he doesn't bother then why should you? Leave the cleaning for a while (except washing dishes etc) and if he complains then say oh you'll do it tomorrow. My mum nags at me for this and it gets on my nerves, so don't nag him to much. Men don't like that. Use reverse phsycology;) good luck.
