History question about the years inbetween WWI and WWII?

China was in the middle of a long civil war. India was ruled by Britain but was trying to gain it's independence . The middle East and Africa were ruled by France and Britain . The united States became isolationist and suffered a great depression. Japan was busy expanding it's empire into Korea , Manchuria , and a number of pacific islands . Italy was trying to become a modern nation and expand it's empire in the Mediterranean and Africa . The USSR spent that time modernizing it's industrial base . Germany fell under the influence of Hitler and used that time to improve it's military and to persecute the Jews.
